100 Clean Sheets For Marcus

It seems Royals 'keeper Marcus Hahnemann has been shipping goals for fun this season, but the stalemate at home to Blackburn was actually his 100th clean sheet of his career.

Hahnemann, who has conceded six or more twice this season, was even surprised by the stat.

He said, '100 clean sheets, that's a nice milestone, but I didn't know about it until after the game. It's a pretty cool thing to do, I've played about 300 odd games in English football, about 250 of those for Reading.

'I don't take things like that lightly, I know that people would kill to have my job. And I don't want to waste any opportunity, I want to play as many games as possible. That's why it's difficult for me to say no to the national team, I love going and being a part of things for the USA. I didn't get to play for them last week, but it's still an honour to go and it's still an honour to play at Reading.'

At the ripe old age of 35, Hahnemann may not have too many games left in him but with the Royals backline looking considerably stronger in recent weeks, Hahnemann will be hoping to make it 101 when Reading travel to St. James' Park on Saturday.

A terrific effort to keep 100 clean sheets, a lot of credit to the defence as well though IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
