'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Royal Shambles

Royals centre-back Ibrahima Sonko and record signing/flop Emerse Fae have been suspended by the club for allegedly refusing to play for the reserves.

The pair have been fined two weeks wages and suspended indefinitely for their selfishness and stupidity.

Both were unlikely to feature in the Royals final games of the season, as Sonko is a complete liability and Fae has failed to make any impact since becoming the Royals record-signing in the summer, mainly because as he openly admits, he 'doesn't know how to track back'.

With both players out of favour, one would assume that a reserve fixture would be the perfect opportunity for the players to prove themselves, sadly this isn't the case.

Allegedly Sonko and Fae asked not to play for the reserves in fear of picking up an injury that would rule them out of any internationals over the summer, funny that considering Sonko has never played a game for Senegal and Fae is no more than a fringe player for the Ivory Coast.

Royals boss Steve Coppell has done the right thing by suspending the pair and he said, 'I want people here who are committed to the club not themselves. I don't care about the long-term as it's all about what happens now.

'We have two massive games and that is all we're concentrating on. I will re-assess the situation in the summer.'

It appears that the African queens have played their final game for the Royals and I think every Reading fan would agree with me when I say good riddance.

Thanks mate, it's quite encouraging all the support we've been getting from other fans. To be fair the way this has happened is quite a good excuse to get rid os sonko who has been absolutely woeful this season. I just hope the other players push on and get 4 points from our next two games, my only worry is the players that probably won't be here next year ie. shorey, lita etc. but fingers crossed...

Talk about Dumb and Dumber... Get rid of those two Muppets.

You have said everything in the article Chris. What has Fae done for Reading this season? NOTHING!!!! What has Sonko done for Reading this season? Gone from being SUPERMAN to MR LIABILITY! I would say that Sonko is a major part of why we are fighting in a relegation battle! At this point of the season we need players giving 100% to the cause and not looking after themselves! take Doyle for instance, after the shocking news that he has received this part week, no one would have blamed him for wanting to finish the season early, however his commitment to the Royals is fantastic! I hope we stay up and I also would like to thank the fellow Prem fans for there support.... Good luck pompy in the FA Final!!!!!!!

What happened to Sonko? He's gone from pushing on the doors of the French squad and being a potential target for Chelsea to as you put it, Mr Liability! I never rated his technical abilities but he used to be a monster in the tackle and have arial defending abilities up there with the best - which would make him an asset to most premier league clubs, now he's less convincing as a centre back than Titus Bramble! Bikey looks a safer bet and seems to be able to distribute the ball reasonably well. Whatever happened to Petr Mate? Good luck at the weekend btw, you've got more to play for than us so should be another good one!

Cheers Dave, its a good question that you ask about Sonko. He injured his cruciate knee ligaments last year and was sidelined for the whole of the start of the season. Since he came back he has been a different player. I think Coppell would have got rid of Fae at the end of the season but not sonko. Coppell has been very loyal to the team that demolished the Championship with a record number of points, and Sonko was a major part of that. Refusing to play in the reserves is an insult to all the fans who supported him when he was injured and in theroy paid for his rehabilitation. Not stopping there it is an insult to Coppell who has shown a tremendous amount of loyalty to him during his time with Reading. I couldn't care less about Fae. Sonko was knocking on the door of France and kept refusing to play with Senegal. When he realised that he wasn't going to get in the French team, he decided to pledge his future to Senegal. During the ACN he didn't play and came back worse than when he left! At this point we do not need pre maddonas like Fae & Sonko and no player is bigger than the club or fans. I hope it will be a good game on Sat with a Royals win, but you never know what tottenham team will turn up my prediction is 1-1?
MASTER-RFC
Hope relegation does not hit you too hard and you come back strong

I really hoped you guys would stay up! Bolton do not deserve to stay up! I have no idea how the have managed it! You should be in the prem next season and not bolton! But as it stands it looks like we're the ones confirming your future! I hope you will come straight back up! coyw!!
