'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Matejovsky to be fighting fit?

Reading midfielder Marek matejovsky has been speaking on his recovery from the ankle ligament injury he sustained at Euro 2008.

'It is better,' he told MF DNES

'For the last week I have been travelling to Prague to visit a doctor for rehabilitation.

'At first I could not tread on the injured foot. I had it braced and had to use crutches. Then every day the rehabilitation has taken place.

'I will fly back to Reading on 13th July. The pre-season starts on the 4th July but I have a longer holiday having played at Euro 2008.

'During the first few days I will train individually, but I hope to be back among the squad very soon.'

Matejovsky also advises he has every intention of playing for Reading in a promotion bid next term.

'As far as I know I am returning to Reading and I am ready to play for them despite the fact that we were relegated.'

That will be music to the ears of Reading fans who see Matejovsky as the only real positive from last season and will go someway to ease fears of any potential move away.

I really hope Marek stays, with him and Lita in the team I think we could be deadly!

He's gonna be a massive palyer this season. Prob one of the best in the league, if he stays fit, I'm fairly confident we'll be ok this season.

Easily the best at this level, he is quality. Stick a physical midfielder alongside him and good, hard working wingers either side and we should be effective.

WHich begs the question, who are we gonna get to replace Harper? Bikey might be able to do the job, but I still think he's our best defender.

He should soon be able to catch up with the rest fitness wise.
