Nicky Not Sure About Future

After about a year of speculation surrounding Nicky Shorey`s future, the England international has finally cleared things up - by saying he`s not sure.

This summer Shorey has been linked with moves to West Ham, Portsmouth and most recently Aston Villa, but as of yet there have been no firm offers.

The Royals turned down a bid from West Ham last summer and following a season of mediocrity from the former Leyton Orient man, the Hammers have not renewed their interest.

Although there have been no more bids for the full back, his future remains in doubt, with Reading Chief Executive Nigel Howe previously stating that Shorey would be moving on.

Shorey said, 'You just get on with it.

"There is speculation about everyone, not just me. I have had it for the last two years now and I will just get on with it. The chief exec can say what he likes about my future. I won`t be commenting on it. I will just focus on my football.

"I am concentrating on getting fit and I will let other people waffle on. It`s all just paper talk.

"I have been with Reading a long time. We`ve got a good group of lads, but what the future holds no-one knows.

"Everyone wants Premier League football. We want to get back there and hopefully we will.

"But it`s gone for the moment. These things happen. We weren`t good enough last season. All we can do now is try to get back up."

would be good for some proper bids to come in, then the club can decide whether to sell or keep, then he and all you fans would know where you stand. Wouldn't be surprised to see Villa bid but at the moment the market looks inflated with every club wanting massive prices for players!
The Fear
Yeah I agree with that. £4.5m has been suggested from Villa, which I would definitely be inclined to take given the fact that Shorey's head is already in the prem.
uroyals
Yeah, but if Kitson went for 5.5m i would want the same for Shorey, who lets face it is and England player.
Robertski
Was an england player, cannot see him getting back into the england fold for a while, especially not when he is playing in the championship, he didnt have a great season anyway..
Eircol
No news from us at Pompey, most of us are quite keen on him but not sure on £5m though.
storagematt
I think £4 million would be a good price for him - come on Stevie Coppell, let him come and join his mate Glen at Fratton.

Face it Royals he's Pompey bound... that's were he's valued and wanted the most...
