'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Shorey Could Make Royal Return

Following his move back to the Premier League with Aston Villa, former Reading man Nicky Shorey has admitted he would love to play for the Royals again some day.

Shorey has just signed a three-year deal with Villa, following months of speculation, but the England international has admitted he will always have a special place in his heart for Reading.

Aston Villa signing Nicky Shorey has refused to rule out a return to Reading later in his career.

He said: 'I love Reading Football Club and I'll always look out for them.

'One day in the future I'll be coming back, either against Reading or, you never know, I could be coming back with them.

'I've been at Reading a long time and the fans were always great to me, we had some great times together.

'Hopefully they can remember those times and not be too upset with me for leaving. I wanted to try something new, not just in football terms but in life as well.

'Hopefully they can understand it was just time to try something new, it isn't just because we've gone down or anything like that.'
