Reading Irish

Reports in Irleand are suggesting that Cork City striker Dave Mooney has all but signed for Reading.

Mooney is the current top scorer in the League of Ireland and has scored 34 League of Ireland goals over the past season and a half.

The current suggestion is that the Royals have offered Cork City around £200,000 for the striker and as the Irish club find themselves on the brink of administration they have been forced to accept.

Should Mooney's transfer be complete in may pave the way for fellow Irishman Kevin Doyle to make a big money move to Aston Villa.

Significantly Cork City will get 10% of the transfer fee should Doyle leave, possibly another makeweight in the Mooney deal.

Mooney's arrival would see him team up with fellow countrymen Shane Long, Stephen Hunt, Noel Hunt and at least for the time being, Kevin Doyle.
