Royals Complete Mooney Signing

As reported yesterday, Reading have completed the signing of Cork City striker Dave Mooney for an undisclosed fee.

Mooney, who was top-scorer in the League of Ireland with 15 goals in just 22 appearances, has signed a three year contract with Reading.

Royals director of football Nick Hammond expressed his delight in signing the Irish frontman.

He said, 'I am very pleased to complete this deal, which gives us five senior strikers and provides the manager with a good array of attacking options at his disposal.

'Goals are the key in any promotion campaign and we wish him every success in his time here.'

Mooney's arrival will fuel speculation as to the future of fellow Irishman Kevin Doyle, but at least for the time being, Mooney will link up with Doyle and three more country men, Stephen Hunt, Noel Hunt and Shane Long completeing the Irish contingent at Reading.

I'm quite happy with this tbf, scored some good goals for Cork, even if it was against *****e opposition, hopefully he'll get a run out against Luton on Tuesday.
