Long Stars In Reserve Rout

Reading’s reserve team ran out 4-0 winners over Luton Town this afternoon with Shane Long playing a staring Roll.

Long opened the scoring himself on 28 minutes, he was at the far post to head home a Church cross after good work by Hayes.

It only took two minutes before the lead was doubled, Long picked the ball up down the right hand side and crossed from the byline for Cox to head home to put the young Royals in control.

On 42 minutes it was 3-0, this time the move was started by Dobson who set Long free down the right again, another cross and Hayes was there to crack home a volley that gave the keeper no chance.

There wasn’t long to wait for the fourth goal, at the start of the second half when a long ball from Stack was headed on by Long and Hayes had to fight off the attentions of a defender before firing in off the post for number four.

Reading: Stack; Halls, Golbourne, Brown, Pearce; Dobson, Sinnott, Church, Hayes; Cox Long (Rendell 75)
