Ingimarsson is new club captain

After a summer of speculation about who would be the new club captain, Brendan Rodgers informed the squad tht Ingimarsson would be given the role in a team meeting after training on Thursday.

After wearing the captains armband on numerous occasions before in the absence of Graeme Murty, he was the obvious choice and is clearly highly respected by his team mates.

He will be assisted by young centre back Alex Pearce who will be groomed into Ingimarsson's natural replacment. He will also take the armband on Saturday, and until the Icelandic defender returns from a knee injury.
