You have to feel for Rodgers, he sends his team out for the second half on Saturday against Peterborough two goals up and destined for only his second league win as Reading manager, but a stunning fightback from Peterborough and he wasn't even taking a point back to Berkshire. He had this to say to the post match press, and the official Reading site.
I'm shocked, to be honest. First half we were outstanding with our passing and movement, and tactically we were very good. The players are mightily disappointed and this is a wake-up call for us. When you're in such control, your confidence is that you can go and score more goals. For us and supporters, who were terrific, I'm mightily disappointed because we should have three points, full stop.'
After yet another disappointing result it has become obvious that we will struggle to be competing at the right end of the table this season and the game at London Road summed up our season thus far. Wonderful dominating football at times but very naive with it and he must pick this side up ahead of our next game at home to his former club Watford next Saturday.
He is sure to be on the receiving end from the away following who have not forgiven him for walking out on them in the summer.
