After last weekends draw against Scunthorpe, it looked like their would be a long build up to the Bristol City game this Saturday. However the departure of Brendan Rodgers has left many Royals fans shocked and their is barely a mention of the trip to Ashton Gate.
We all knew Rodgers was under a bit of pressure, here at Vital Reading we threw our support behind him SEE HERE, but just hours later he was gone. Rumours of a row with Sir John Madejksi over available transfer money has been denied, the chairman has also broken his silence but not really told us what the hell is going on.
So Brian McDermott is in charge for now and it sounds like he may well be given the job on a full time basis, another cost cutting measure at the club by the sounds of it. Of course Madejksi has talked up our chief scout and said that he has won trophies as a reserve team manager so why can't he do it with the first team. However many Royals fans don't feel that he is the man to take us forward but quite who is, is anyone's guess!
This has all come at the worst possible time with the festive period upon us, the most congested time of the season with 4 games in 15 days ending with the visit of Liverpool in the FA cup. Whilst Madejski is calling for a time of reflection, I hope the players are thinking of nothing more than winning games starting tomorrow.
