Long ban confirmed

Long was dismissed in the 48th minute of our FA Cup 5th round tie with West Brom at the weekend for a dangerous tackle on Abdullah Meite. It was his second red card of the season, the other being a similar tackle away at Derby in November.

As such he has picked up an extended ban and will be suspended for the Royals next 4 games, meaning he will miss the cup replay at the Hawthorns as well as league encounters with Crystal Palace, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday.

In his absence the Royals will be hoping Grzegorz Rasiak, Simon Church and Gunnar Thorvaldsson can score the goals in his absence.

It came at just the wrong time for the Irish striker, who had scored 4 goals in his previous 3 games.
