Savage - 'Reading by far the better team'
Robbie Savage was forced to go in goal on Wednesday as Derby were beaten 4-1 at the Mad Stad, and he was full of praise for the Royals. He told Sky Sports News after the game,
'Reading were by far the better team and me going in goal was not the turning point in the game. They could have scored three or four more before then.'
He also insisted putting him in goal was the wise choice, as he had got the run around from the Royals midfielders for the first half and his legs couldn't have taken anymore!
'I think it was the wise choice! I'm 36 years of age this year, were playing away with ten men against Reading, they were passing the ball around us and we couldn't get close to them!'
Despite never playing in goal before, he performed well and jokingly admitted he would come out of international retirement for Wales - as a keeper!
'I've never played in goal, it just came naturally. Maybe Wales need a keeper do they!?'
Considering his save from Sigurdsson in the second half, he could be in with a shout!
