Hunt still expected to miss season

Striker Noel Hunt has been out of action since October after surgery to cure a longstanding knee problem, and no time line had previously been put on his recovery. However most expected him to miss the rest of this season, and Brian McDermott has confirmed that this is still the case.

Hunt last featured in the 3-1 defeat at West Brom, and despite telling Skys Soccer AM he still hadn't given up hope of playing again this season, it now looks unlikely.

I have spotted him at a couple of recent home games and he appears to be walking fine, however there is a massive difference between that and actually playing again. The sooner he is back the better though as he is one of the biggest characters in the Royals squad.

Last seasons player of the year, Chris Armstrong, is also suffering from a long term knee problem and the ckubs medical staff are still trying to get him back as quickly as possible. However the left back has had a career blighted by knee injuries and things don't look great for the former Sheffield United man.

What price him to score the winner in the play off final at Wembley!?

Its A shame that Hunt has been out for so long. Over the last few seasons the profile of Reading FC has risen here in Rep of Ireland because of the number of Irish players at the club. It is great to see the supporter base widen and it is not unusual to see people wearing Reading shirts here in Ireland now. I remember a time when I mentioned here in Ireland that I was a Reading Fan people would look at me and ask WHO? I wish Noel a full recovery in the near future and help the profile of Reading here in Ireland
