Well what can you say about Saturday? We would have comfortably won that game if it wasn't for the outrageous decision to send off Matt Mills, Ipswich are a poor outfit and I am confident we would have secured another three points at Portman Road. The momentum of the game turned on referee Keith Stroud`s decision to dismiss Mills for what was nothing more than a 50/50 challenge.
Stroud has history though, he is a terrible referee, and if you cast your minds back to the 6-4 defeat to Spurs in the Premiership the year we got relegated you will remember another hopeless decision by him. Robbie Keane took a penalty that was saved by Marcus Hahnemann, but Jermaine Defoe put in the rebound despite being stood next to the taker, Keane, when the ball was kicked. That was the turning point in that game as well! The official site reports that Matt Mills was dismissed by the same man at Doncaster earlier in the season, but to be fair to Stroud I think he didn`t ref that game at the last minute. If he did however, then I have even more hatred for the man!
Well at least we can get that out of the system quickly with today`s home game against Coventry, another game that we should be expected to get three points from. The Sky Blues are on a downward spiral after it looked like they could make a case for a play off place, and I fully expect Chris Coleman`s side to be blown away this afternoon.
So finally, what of our own play off hopes? Well Jobi McAnuff thought they were finished after we only drew with West Brom and I think it`s fair to say after the Ipswich defeat that our season will finish on May 2nd, leaving all Royals fans to focus on the World Cup!
