The Royals Director of football Nick Hammond has praised the midfields goalscoring exploits this season. With Reading flying high in the Championship, Hammond says the contribution of 11 goals from midfield has been outstanding. Reading have scored 30 goals in total so far this season keeping them nine points ahead of third place Watford and only 3 points behind Sheffield United.
He said 'Our midfield players have scored more goals already this season than they did in the whole of last season. And we are going to need to continue to do that if we are to be successful. The midfielders have been fantastic in that respect so far, but as a squad we have looked more likely to score goals - which was a problem for us last season. I think any team that is going to be successful must contribute goals from all over the pitch and at this point in time we are doing that.'
You've got to say, with the best defensive record in the league, that our mean back four also deserve great credit, long may it continue!
