Federici makes Aussie debut

The Socceroo's took on New Zealand on Monday and with Mark Schwarzer nursing a thumb injury, Federici took the number 1 shirt for the first half. Despite a number of call ups, and his inclusion in the World Cup squad, it was infact Fed's debut for Australia and he will have been delighted to win his first cap before heading to South Africa.

It was also a clear indication that he is the number 2 goalkeeper in the Aussie squad, as he started ahead of Middlesbrough's Brad Jones who came on at the break.

The Aussie's won the game 2-1 with an injury time winner. They will now face Denmark and USA in further pre tournament friendlies.

Great to see Fed's is number 2, an injury away from a world cup appearance!
