Andersen keen to stay

Danish keeper Andersen has just returned from the Toulon tournament with his country and was in fine form, earning himself the golden glove as the tournaments top goalkeeper. On the back on that, added to his fine season on loan at Bristol Rovers, he has been linked with a number of clubs abroad.

However he has insisted to a Danish website that his only focus is earning the number 1 jersey at the Madejski Stadium. 'There are some rumours in England, but my first priority is clearly to become first-choice goalkeeper at Reading and play matches.'

With rumours surrounding Adam Federici's Reading future, Andersen clearly thinks their could be a chance for him here however with so many fine young goalkeepers he may well be disappointed.

Ben Hamer was the Royals number 2 and has played over 100 league games during various loan spells including Brentford, whilst Alex McCarthy had a similarly succesful loan spell at Yeovil last season. He also earnt himself a call up to the England under 21 squad on the back of his displays at Huish Park.

One thins is for sure, if Federici was to leave we are blessed with options for a replacement in house, if we are confident enough to blood a young goalkeeper.

Personally, from what I have seen, I would back McCarthy ahead of Andersen. And that could be harsh on Ben Hamer!
