'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McDermott - 'Good things come to those who wait'

Brian McDermott completed his second signing of the summer when Andy Griffin was snapped up on a 2 year deal on Thursday, and he was delighted to have got his man after a long wait.

McDermott told the Official Site, 'It's been a long time coming but good things come to those who wait. I'm sure the supporters will be delighted, as I am.'

The Royals manager made Griffin his first signing when he brought him in on loan in January and since day one he has realised how important a player he was. 'We have had plenty of conversation's, he is a really important guy around the place. The younger lads look upto him.'

He also had words for the chairman who allowed him to get Griffin on a permanent deal, and thinks everyone is delighted to see him here. 'The board and the chairman are all very happy to see him here.'

He certainly knows what he is talking about because I don't know a fan who will not be pleased that Griffin has signed permanently. I don't think a signing has ever been greeted with universal approval like this one.

How important will Griffin be next season? Let us know your thoughts....
