Harper to Hull?
Harper officially left the Royals last summer when he left on loan to Sheffield United, and he joined the Blades permanently in January. However he was released this summer after just one season at Bramall Lane and has since been without a club.
He looked set to join Crystal Palace after manager George Burley offered him a deal, however Harper turned that down to go on trial at Hull.
Nigel Pearson had been keen to bring Harper to Leicester, but he left the job at the Walkers Stadium to take over at the KC, but that didn't stop his interest in the dynamic midfielder.
He will now try to prove himself worthy of a contract at the relegated Premiership side as they return to pre season training.
