Mooney and Davies to leave

Both players were left out of the travelling party to Slovenia earlier this week, and Royals manager Brian McDermott has confirmed that time is up for both of them in a Reading shirt. He told the Reading Post, 'I`ve had conversations with Scotty Davies and David Mooney. Sometimes when players like Scotty have been here a long time, they probably need to find where their career is going to be. David Mooney is the same.'

Davies graduated from the Royals academy and has featured for the first team under Brendan Rodgers but spent the second half of last season out on loan at Wycombe Wanderers. Mooney was also out on a temporary basis last season at Charlton and has yet to make his league debut for the club, despite a couple of appearances in the Carling Cup.

There should be no shortage of League One clubs interested in the pair, and that is probably their level right now. Davies especially though could well prove us wrong and 'do a Simon Cox'.

Would be sorry to see Davies leave, Mooney is clearly not good enough though....
