'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reading after Curtis Davies?

Earlier in the week Brian McDermott told us that there would be no new signings before the start of the season, however he didn't mention loans! That is why I am quite excited about the latest centre back being linked with a loan move to Berkshire.

Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies missed large parts of last season through injury and the Midlands club could well be looking to send him out on loan to gain some match fitness. That could be where we step in!

Davies is rumoured to be on our radar, and director of football Nick Hammond was at the recent Basingstoke vs Aston Villa reserves game watching the former West Brom centre back.

Whilst any permanent move would be out of the question, a loan move could well be on the cards and it would be immense for the Royals. With numbers limited in that position, and Ivar Ingimarsson still struggling with injury, the addition of a premier league centre back could be just what we need.

Matt Mills and Curtis Davies would be up there with any centre back pairing in this division, so fingers crossed!

What are your thoughts on this rumour? Would you like to see Davies in our team? Let us know!

Would be a fantastic signing, even if it was just short term. Right up there with Kizhanishvili and Griffin last year.

If it is true, you just hope it won't be another O'Dea who came from a top class club, highly rated by numerous people and tuned out to be a flop. But I have faith Davies would be a great signing and like you said, create a fantastic partnership with Mills that would sure up our defence.

i doubt he would drop to the first division andi doubt O'Neill would loan him out. If someone was at the match watchinga villa player they would of been there watching one of our reserves, we have a number of young players that will do well in the Championship.
