Ingi comeback delayed again

Ingimarsson has been out injured since March with a hamstring injury that required surgery, but he had been expected to be fit for the start of this season. However his return has been delayed twice and he was forced to pull out of a reserve game last week.

Manager Brian McDermott is now refusing to put a time frame on the Club Captain's return and admitted he has no idea when the Icelander will be back.

Speaking to the Reading Post, he said, 'It`s hard to say when he will be back at the moment and I can`t really put a time frame on it.'

With Alex Pearce and Matt Mills still the only fit centre backs at the club, with utility man Brynjar Gunnarsson set for a spell at right back now Andy Griffin is injured, we are so vulnerable in that area but apparantly will make no effort to sort it out.

What a mess this club is in. McDermott's honeymoon is over and the Sun newspapers prediction of a 19th place finish for us this season looks very optimistic. And too think so many critisised it!

Our hopes now rest on an injury prone, ageing, Icelandic centre back. Sign of the times...
