Hendrie departs

The Royals have confirmed that Lee Hendrie has left the club, following a brief trial at the Madejski Stadium. The former Aston Villa and England midfielder spent the past week training at the clubs Hogwood training base, and played in a reserve game on Tuesday against Brighton, but Brian McDermott was not impressed enough to offer him a deal.

The manager loved the players bubbly character and told the Official Site, 'First and foremost I would like to thank Lee, he is a top guy and was great around the place. Having him here was a shot to nothing for us, and I felt a quick decision was the right decision for him and us.'

We are clearly an attacking player down though after the sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson and you would expect us to make a move in the loan market in the near future.
