'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McDermott - 'I'm delighted for Stretch'

If there was one surprise name on the team sheet on Saturday then it was that of Chris Armstrong. Almost 18 months out injured, only a few reserve games under his belt, and the most surprising of all he was playing in centre midfield.

I will be honest and admit I laughed at a mate in the pub before the Scunthorpe game, when he said Armstrong would be back soon! I thought the guy was finished and never expected to see him playing professional football again, oh how wrong I was.

One man who always had faith in him was Brian McDermott, and he spoke to the Official Site after the game.

'I'm delighted for him and he's a really good guy. He's been out for a long long time, he came in his usual style, understated and played really well.'

Hopefully he shows no ill effects of the game on Saturday, and we can see him back in the squad on a regular basis.

McDermott admitted it was no gamble to play him in the centre of midfield, and we could see a lot more of him in that position.

'He played in the middle for Sheffield United, he does the right things and gave us a really good platform to play.'

Welcome back Stretch!

Fantastic to see him back, deserved the reception he got. Lets hope he can stay fit because it will be like a new signing
