'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Is Gudjohnsen the mystery loanee?

Whilst usually very coy on any transfer targets, Brian McDermott has admitted to the Reading Post that he could bring in a loan star before the deadline next Thursday. There are rumours flying around in Iceland that it could be Stoke City forward Eidur Gudjohnsen.

McDermott said, 'There`s a possibility. I`m looking at a good player. If something comes our way and we have the possibility to do something then we will.'

That is the clearest indication yet that there will be a new arrival, as the Royals manager tends to deny anything on the transfer front.

Gudjohnsen only joined Stoke in the summer but has so far found himself out of the first team picture and a loan move to the Madejski Stadium could be just what he needs.

The only stumbling block could be that McDermott would ideally like to take a loanee that may be interested in a permanent deal, and it remains to be seen if the former Chelsea man would be up for that.
