Wally to West Ham!

Wally Downes played a major part in the Royals Championship winning season in 2005/06 and subsequent premier League years, and took a large amount of credit for the work he did with the defence at the time.

It was therefore a surprise that he has been out of work since leaving the Madejski Stadium a few years ago, when Steve Coppell departed.

He has found himself a new job though and will now fulfil a similar role at West Ham. The Hammers have been struggling to keep hold of leads in recent weeks and Downes is likely to be working hard on improving the defence at Upton Park, and do his bit to keep them in the top flight.

Wally is a top bloke and everyone at Vital Reading would like to wish him luck in his new role!
