'If It's Football, It's Vital'

West Brom in the Cup

Last week was time of the year when we all get excited about possible ties in the FA Cup third round. Would it be Swindon away or perhaps the Royals might be drawn with Aldershot, or even Oxford if they make it through?

At this time every year though is the time when we reflect on what might have been, and now is no different after we were paired with West Brom! It's the third time in the last six years we have got them in the cup and the only positive is we have won both previous ties, including last season. We drew 2-2 at the Madejski Stadium before a 3-2 AET win at the Hawthorns sent us through to the quarter finals.

Previously in 2006 we drew 1-1 at the Hawthorns before a Leroy Lita hat trick sent us through in the replay, again 3-2. If you remember back to the incidents that surrounded the ending of last seasons game then there could still be some spice in this tie against the premier league new boys.

Of course we played them four times last season if you include the two league games so we know all about Roberto Di Matteo's side.

The game is not likely to be on the tele, so should be played on Saturday 8th January 2011.
