Royals number 1 Adam Federici has been provisionally called up by Australia for the Asia Cup which would see him miss most of January's schedule.
The tournament which will be held in Qatar between 7th - 29th January see's international nations from all over Asia competing, and is similar to the African Nations Cup which is also held during the English season.
Federici previously said he would rather stay and play for Reading and would only consider going if he was going to be guaranteed to be number 1 for the tournament.
If he did go this would leave the Royals with a goalkeeping headache, with three stoppers all vying for one space. Current number 2 Alex McCarthy enjoyed a good spell on loan at Yeovil last season but has lacked first team football this term so perhaps the favourite would be Mikkel Andersen who is currently having another good loan spell at Bristol Rovers. That is due to end in January and he could return whilst Ben Hamer, last season's number 2, would also be in contention but he is struggling to get in the Brentford team on a regular basis at the moment, where he is on loan.
The final squad for the tournament has to be announced by December 28th.
Who would you play if Federici did go? Andersen, Hamer or McCarthy - let us know your thoughts.....
