Royals to sign Non League striker

With the deal to sign Bradley Wright Phillips falling through at the last minute on Tuesday evening, the Royals have not hung around in sealing the deal for their next transfer target - Eastleigh striker Brett Williams.

The Non League striker has (according to the Eastleigh FC website) scored 8 goals this season from 14 starts and 9 sib appearances. Those goals have come in a total of 1337 minutes on the pitch.

He was on trial during Tuesdays behind closed doors friendly against Colchester, and scored in the 2-0 win. He did enough to convince the watching Brian McDermott that he was worth signing.

He will pen a one and a half year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, when the Eastleigh chairman returns from holiday on Thursday to give the go ahead to the transfer.
