Harewood considered as possible Royals target

Recent reports have suggested that free agent Marlon Harewood, 31, is being targeted by Reading as a possible replacement for the Premier League bound striker Shane Long.

The former Aston Villa and West Ham striker has been a free agent following his release from recently relegated Blackpool. His Blackpool career got off to a fantastic start, scoring a hat trick against Wigan in August in their 4-0 victory on the opening day.

After failing to get into the team, he joined Barnsley on loan in the second half of the season, scoring 4 goals in 10 appearances. He has also been linked with League 1 outfit Notts County.

Personally, if he is considered as a replacement for Long, I would like to see a bit more ambition and use of the money from Long and not get an ageing striker on a free.
