Long brushes aside transfer talk

Sought-after Reading striker Shane Long has reiterated that he is focused on preparing for pre-season with the Royals and ignoring all the transfer talk surrounding him.

He said to the Reading Chronicle: 'If a club comes in for me we will deal with it. But that hasn't happened so it's business as usual as far as I'm concerned.'

The Republic of Ireland international, 24, had a fantastic season for the Royals scoring 25 goals in all competitons. This prompted a variety of interest from Premier League teams including Wolves, Newcastle and Merseyside duo Liverpool and Everton.

Reports coming out of Scotland also claim that Celtic are also interested in the striker, with Anthony Stokes possibly being used as a part of the deal to take him to Celtic Park.

There have been no offers of yet for the former Cork City man, but it is believed the club will be willing to hold out for around £5m.

With Celtic being considered a sideway step for Shane, it is believed he is more inclined to play Premier League football.
