McAnuff signs new deal until 2014

Reading winger Jobi McAnuff has signed a new three-year deal with the club that will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2014.

The former Watford winger's contract was due to run out next summer but has agreed to the clubs new contract, to fend off any interest in the tricky winger.

Neil Warnock's QPR showed an interest in the 29-year old but has shown his loyalty to the club by signing a new deal.

McAnuff told the official RFC website: 'I'm delighted, once I knew the club were keen there was no hassle at all in terms of ironing out the details, and I'm very glad to have signed.'

He also added: 'The club came to me soon after the play-off final and intimated they wanted to get things done, it's been very smooth and I'm very happy.'

Jobi has made 62 appearances for the Royals, scoring 8 goals in the process, including a fantastic solo effort against Cardiff in the recent play-off semi finals.

With captain Matt Mills also set to be on his way out of the club, with his most likely destination being Leicester, it would be wise to make McAnuff full time captain. He has worn the armbands on former occasions during Mills' absense.

At least someone in the squad has shown some loyalty.....
