'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Young Royal rejected other clubs

Reading have publicly revealed that academy-graduate Jordan Obita turned down other clubs before signing his professional deal with the club last year.

The 17-year old winger has already had a fine start to pre-season, going on the pre-season tour of Slovenia, scoring in the 3-2 loss at Eastleigh and scoring the winner against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.

Brian McDermott has spoke of his pride in the youngster's development and progression into the first team squad.

The Royals boss has already given him a peak of first-team football in our 1-0 win over Torquay last season, bringing him on as a substitute in the first round of the Carling Cup.

Obita has already played at England U18 and U19 level as is expected to play some part in the first team this season, despite the cut back on the numbers of substitutes by the League.
