Watt on the radar for Royals

Reading are considering the possibility of signing young Arsenal forward Sanchez Watt on loan, as a replacement for former striker Shane Long.

The Reading Chronicle reported that McDermott was spotted watching Arsenal reserves against Manchester United reserves, in a game which Arsenal won 2-1, Watt scoring one of the goals.

The 20-year old was on loan at Leeds last season, where he made 22 appearances and scoring one goal.

He can operate on either wing but can also be used up front. Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the forward, who has England U19 experience.

Considering the lack of funds available, McDermott could go against his usual transfer policy and dip into the loan market for a young player.

Hammond speaking exclusively to the Chronicle said: 'We're watching a lot of games at the moment and we saw Arsenal reserves on Monday. We're looking to strengthen the squad. The opportunity is there to do that if we can find a player at the right price.'
