'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Royals boss understands fans frustration

Reading boss Brian McDermott has admitted his frustration with his sides performances, which saw the Royals fans give an adverse reaction at full time.

Ian Harte and Noel Hunt missed penalties as Hal Robson-Kanu converted the third but Barnsley already had a two goal cushion.

McDermott told the RFC official site after the game: 'We were disappointed with Portsmouth but that is really, really galling today.'

'We were 2-0 down again, as we were against Millwall, it's a recurring theme - we've got to stop shipping goals, and make sure we play for 90 minutes.'

The Royals boss also spoke of the fans discontent at full time. He said: 'Yes, it was very unusual. First half I could understand why, second half we played some decent football but results are everything, especially at home. I've no problem with that, we just have to make it up to them in the next game.'

On the other hand, Keith Hill was ecstatic with his first win as Barnsley manager. 'I am really pleased with our first win. I deserve it and the players deserve it although I know that in the second half Reading could have won it.'
