Cummings extends Royals deal
Reading defender Shaun Cummings has signed a one-year contract extension, which will keep him at the Berkshire club until the summer of 2013.
The 22-year old`s contract was in its final year and Reading boss Brian McDermott was keen to tie down the former Chelsea academy player.
Cummings was pleased himself to sign the deal and told the official RFC site: 'I have worked hard to get where I am at this club, so obviously signing a new contract with Reading is very good news."
He added: 'I want to show everyone what I can do out on the pitch, so this is a good stepping stone towards proving what I am capable of."
The former MK Dons and West Brom player has made 14 appearances for the Royals and is on the verge of breaking into the first team, with Andy Griffin currently carrying a hamstring problem.
McDermott was also satisfied to get Shaun down for another year saying: 'It wasn't easy for him at first, he didn't play as many games as he would have liked but he's played in some really big matches for us.
'He's done very, very well, he will keep working hard and I'm sure he will be a big player for us.'
