McDermott: This was a bad day

Reading manager Brian McDermott was brutally honest following his teams 2-0 loss to Watford on Saturday, saying the team lacked creativity and togetherness on the pitch.

It comes as Reading have now lost five in a row in all competitions, scoring just 2 goals in the 5 defeats. Reading also failed to get a shot on target in Saturdays game.

McDermott told the RFC official site: 'We didn't look solid and we didn't create enough chances. We gave away too many free kicks in and around the box, and the balls that did come into the box we didn't deal with.'

The 50-year is still also unsure of his strongest team. 'I can't keep making change after change, I've got to try to find a formula that works for us. What we need is 11 players who go out there and take it on in an attempt to claim the shirt and keep it.'

'We have ruined our fans' weekend and we've ruined our own this afternoon. We have to put it right quickly'

McDermott will now plan for next weeks game against bottom-of-the-table team Doncaster, who are still looking for their first win with them only accumulating one point so far this season.
