Reading striker Simon Church has said he is raring to go ahead of him getting back to full fitness and hopes to put the Royals' current baron run behind him and score goals to get Reading up the league.
The Welsh international scored a brace in a behind-closed-doors match against AFC Wimbledon, in a game which saw the Reading XI win 3-1 on Monday afternoon.
Church has a solid start to pre-season and was a big hit in our pre-season tour of Slovenia until he picked up a thigh injury at the start of August which would keep him out for a month.
The forward told the RFC official site: 'I've had a nightmare start to the season with injuries so to get a couple of goals and start feeling sharp was a good feeling.'
'It's been frustrating for me, I wanted to hit the ground running, but I picked up a thigh injury after the first game in Slovenia and then another one in the opposite leg after that.'
Following his fine performance on Monday afternoon, Church could be given a chance by manager Brian McDermott against Doncaster on Friday as he is still looking to solve his ever growing goal problem.
Church scored the winner in the same fixture last season as the Royals came from 3-1 down to beat Sean O'Driscoll's side and McDermott would want the same fighting spirit that saw the Royals comeback to win that game.
