McDermott baffled by disallowed goal

Reading manager Brian McDermott has voiced his dismay at yesterdays referee Andy Woolmer, after he disallowed Kaspars Gorkss an injury time goal at Selhurst Park.

The game finished 0-0, in a match which the Royals were the better team and played very well against the team that were unbeaten in 6 and sitting in 4th place in the Championship.

McDermott told the RFC official site: 'We've just seen it back again and Alfie's not even close to the goalkeeper and I don't know what the referee has seen.'

'I wanted to make sure I had got it right and that I knew why the referee had ruled it out. So I've seen it back over and over again, nine or ten times, and I asked the referee what he'd given and he said it was a foul on the goalkeeper.'

Reading had a number of opportunities in the second period, with Hal Robson-Kanu having the best of them. 'There wasn't enough pace on the ball for Hal's header, it came to him a bit slowly and a bit more pace on it and I'm sure he would have scored.'

The Reading squad and McDermott will now move to Tuesdays game against Nottingham Forest, who sit in a surprising 20th spot.
