Hunt hopes goal can earn starting birth

Reading striker Noel Hunt has said that he hopes his crucial goal against Birmingham on Sunday can relight his Reading career and earn a starting place in Brian McDermott`s side.

The 28-year old scored the only goal as Reading took the victory against the team that hadn`t been beaten in nine games and had the meanest defence in the Championship.

Hunt told the Reading Chronicle: 'I haven't banged on the manager's door once. I don't really do that. But of course I want to play. I felt I didn't deserve it (being left out of the side) at the time because we had won three games and drawn one.

The Irish international hasn`t found himself starting XI in the last few months, with Le Fondre, Manset and Church ahead of him and Noel has publically admitted his frustration.

With Church and Manset failing to score in the past few games, our next game with Cardiff on 19th November could see a start for Hunt alongside top scorer Adam Le Fondre.
