Wednesday want Royals winger

Wednesday want Royals winger

League One side Sheffield Wednesday are looking into the possibility of signing Reading winger Michail Antonio on a loan basis, according to the Sheffield Star.

The 21-year old has just returned from his loan spell at Colchester where he made 16 appearances for the U's, scoring a creditable 4 goals in his time at the League One side.

Owls manager Gary Megson said: "We were knocked back over Antonio. His partner is having a baby and he wanted to stay where he is now, and he wanted to fight for his place, but we`ll see what happens in the New Year."

Colchester did want to extend the loan but Brian McDermott did not want the winger to be cup-tied and felt he could fight for his place in the first team.

However, Wednesday will try and divert McDermott's opinion, with the move possibly hinging on Jimmy Kebe staying or leaving the Madejski Stadium.
