Williams set for departure

Reading defender Marcus Williams is set to leave his parent club Reading, after they said they will not stand in his way to complete a permenant transfer to loan club Sheffield United.

The 25-year old left back has found it very hard to get into the Reading side over the year, leading him to be loaned to the League One side, where he has made 12 appearances for the Blades.

The SheffieldStar reported that Royals boss Brian McDermott said: 'At the start of the season it was the case that if someone made an offer for Marcus then he was free to go. As far as things stand, this is still the case.'

The Doncaster-born player signed in the summer of 2010 on a free transfer from Scunthorpe United, where he also enjoyed a loan deal later that year along with Peterborough United, playing just 12 games in total.
