Reading boss delighted with historic win

Reading manager Brian McDermott is delighted with his side's historic 1-0 win over Leeds yesterday, that was the first win for the Royals at Elland Road in their league history.

A sublime second minute lob from Simon Church gave Reading all three points at Elland Road, which takes the Royals up to seventh and just two points below the Whites, who are in sixth place.

McDermott told the official RFC site: 'At the end of the first half we might have been 2 or 3 up, and that's no exaggeration. We played some really good stuff with the ball. In the second half we showed a different side to our game - we were resilient and did the job more than anything.'

'It was a great finish from Simon, and we had other opportunities that we couldn't take. It would have been nice to get the second one because at 1-0 anything can happen late in the game. It was a very satisfying afternoon for us.'

Brian McDermott's men will now move to their game in eight days time against Gus Poyet's Brighton, who lost to Burnley 1-0 yesterday, playing the majority of the game with 10 men.

Indeed! Didn't surprise me in all honesty considering many years ago we were at complete different ends of the footballing ladder.
