Reading have confirmed the signings of striker Jason Roberts and Tomasz Cywka. Roberts joining from Blackburn for a nominal fee on a 1-and-a-half year deal, while Cywka was a free transfer from Championship rivals Derby county until the end of the season.
Roberts, 34, has been a well-renound striker in the Premier League, being a loved figure by many. He enjoyed he most successful spells as Bristol Rovers and Wigan, where he scored 75 goals in 171 appearances. The Grenada international also revealed he turned down foreign offers to join the club.
The signature of Roberts could well nullify any rumours concerning Jordan Rhodes or Billy Sharp, who have been linked to join the Berkshire side for several millions. However, also with the signing of Karl Sheppard, another addition of a forward would seem extremely unlikely.
Cywka (pronounced Sif-Ca) joined from Nigel Clough's Derby, after failing nail down a starting place in Clough's line-up. After joining from Wigan in 2010, he made 40 appearances for the Rams, scoring five goals with his last coming at the Madejski Stadium in this season's 2-2 draw.
Some Derby fans have shown disappointment of the departure of the attacking midfielder, saying he had a lot more to offer the team. The 23-year old has also appeared for the Polish U21 side and even turned down a move back to his native Poland in favour of the Royals.
