BM pleased with overcome of potential hiccup

Reading boss Brian McDermott is pleased with his sides performance against the Championship's bottom side Coventry City, saying it could well have been a potential banana skin for the team.

Goals from Jimmy Kebe and Jason Roberts in the first half won it for the Royals. Despite a good second half surge from the visitors and forcing Adam Federici into some world class saves, Reading maintained their play-off push and Coventry remain in trouble at the bottom of the table.

McDermott told the official RFC site: 'Coming into today it was probably on my mind more than normal, many people would have just expected us to win. It was a banana skin, but we've won the game, which is absolutely the most important thing.'

'But I knew we hadn't played for two weeks. We're not in the groove yet, we're doing our best with the circumstances of training at this time of year and we'll be better for the game - but as I say we have won. That makes it nine wins out of twelve, which is great form.'

After a two-week period without having a game, the Royals will now prepare for Tuesday nights game against Derby County, followed by a home affair against Eddie Howe's Burnley three days later on Friday night.
