Reading's new loan signing Benik Afobe has admitted he is very pleased to have join the Royals in what has been a very successful period as of late.
The 19-year old signed on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season on Thursday and will inherit in the 51 shirt number. This one was the lowest available for Afobe, albeit admitting that he wanted number 59 which has to be given the green light by the Football League.
The London-born forward told the official RFC site: 'As soon as I knew Reading were interested then my mind was made up. I know the club, I've played against the youth team a lot of times, the team were in the play-offs last season, they've been in the Premier League, it's a good club.'
'I am delighted, I've had some time out with injury but to now have the chance to play for such a good club, fighting for promotion, it's really good. I'm a number 9 by trade but I'm also happy to play out wide and will give my all for the team. If selected I'll try to give my best to help the team to another three points.'
With Jason Roberts definitely out of this afternoon's game with a hamstring problem, which could keep him out for around a month, Afobe is only expected to be named on the bench. Noel Hunt will partner either Simon Church or Adam Le Fondre up front, with the Welshman likely to get the nod.
