Mullins hopes for permanent RFC deal

On-loan Reading midfielder Hayden Mullins has hoped that he has done enough to earn himself a permanent deal at the Berkshire club.

The 33-year old joined the Royals from cash-strapped Portsmouth last month in an attempt to help Portsmouth's financial situation and aid his hometown club in their bid for promotion. Since then, Pompey have been relegated to League One and Reading have been promoted as Championship winners.

Mullins said: "I`ve had a season fighting at both ends of the table - it`s definitely easier to be at the top than at the bottom. It`s been a bit of a weird season but to come back and play for Reading, my home town, and to get promoted is fantastic. I came on a loan with a view to a permanent transfer, so hopefully we`ll sort something out."

The former West Ham midfielder has made five appearances for Brian McDermott's side, filling for in centre-midfield for the injured Jem Karacan in recent games. He also had a stint at right-back against Barnsley and Peterborough. Whether a permanent deal is struck remains to be seen but it is believed just £300k should be enough to gain Mullins' signature.
