Royals boss wins managerial award

Reading manager Brian McDermott has been awarded with the LMA Championship manager of the year award.

The 51-year old has been voted for the award by fellow managers in the game after leading the Royals to the Championship title in the final few months of the season. McDermott beat Southampton boss Nigel Adkins, Cardiff boss Malky Mackay, Birmingham's Chris Hughton and Watford manager Sean Dyche to the award.

The former Slough boss was also nominated for League Managers Association Manager of the Year award over all four English divisions, but lost out to former Reading manager and current Newcastle boss Alan Padrew. Brendan Rodgers was another former Royals boss nominated for the award after his superb work with Swansea.
