Reading to relight Mariappa move

Reading are set to make another bid for Watford defender Adrian Mariappa.

The Royals were knocked back in a 2 million bid for the 25-year old last week, but McDermott is determined to get his long-term target. Reports have emerged, suggesting that Reading are set to submit a new bid in the region of around 3 million, which the Hornets will be more likely to consider.

Mariappa was also a former target of Premier League sides Newcastle and Wigan last season, but the Magpies deadline-day bid was turned down. The London-born defender has spent his entire career with the Hornets, making 216 appearances and winning their annual Player of the Season award for the most recent campaign.
